Dr. Victoria L. Joiner was committed to spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. She did just that every week on her signature radio broadcast, Sabbath Praise, which aired faithfully every Sabbath on Oakwood’s radio station, WOCG, then WJOU, for over 20 years.
With distinction, poise, and an effervescent personality, Joiner served Oakwood University in several capacities: as Program Director, and then General Manager, of WOCG (now WJOU); Assistant Vice President of Advancement & Development, Director of Alumni Relations; the first Director of the Oakwood University Memorial Gardens Cemetery; and as a professor in the Communication Department. She also served as an adjunct professor at Alabama A&M University, Drake State Technical College, and Calhoun Community College. In 2019, Joiner was called to join the faculty of Southern Adventist University as an assistant professor of Communication, bringing her years of broadcasting experience to share with her new professional family.
In celebration of Dr. Joiner’s legacy, please consider donating to this scholarship to support those who, like her, will ‘depart to serve’ and make a difference in our world.
